Masala corn recipe – boiled corn kernels are mixed with Indian spices and onion and tomato. This is QUICK, SIMPLE, flavorful and spicy snack recipe.

Masala Butta or Spiced fire roasted corn on the cob is a favorite street snack in India when corn is in season. Street vendors roast the corn on coal fire and use a lemon to rub in the Indian spices and serve it hot. People can be seen walking around with the corn in hand.On high mountains like Sinhgarh Fort, it is one of my favorite snack to have all time.Whenever I go there, we will all have roasted corn in hand.

It is one of my favorite when I go to movie.Along with popcorns, we also like to get Masala corn.An evergreen favourite with everybody, Spicy Masala Corn is also very easy to prepare.

In no time, you can prepare this chat.I like fresh corns, specially in season when there are plenty of corns in market.Fresh corns ahs that taste and flavor.During the monsoon season, corn is widely available in India.I have used American sweet corn. But you can also use desi corn aka makai or bhutta.You can remove corn kernels from corn cob or bhutta.

Of course, tou can have frozen corns from supermarket as well.You have to thaw them and bring them back to normal temperature.

Adding butter to this chat make this more rich and lemon juice add tangy flavor this Masala Corn Chat.

It is preferred to serve immediately once it is made.If you are planning to serve later then just boil sweet corn and make all the ingredients ready then at the time of serving just warm up the corn then mix with ingredients.

You can make many variations like adding red chili powder, or green chili.You can make just salted corn chat as well.It is just how you would like have this simple chat item.

Masala Corn


  • 2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 4 cups boiled sweet corn kernels
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped tomato
  • 2 tbsp chopped onion
  • coriander leaves to garnish
  • salt to taste


  • 1.Heat the butter in a broad non-stick pan, add the sweet corn kernels, and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes
  • 2.Add the black pepper powder, chaat masala, lemon juice and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  • 3.Add chopped onion and tomatoes and mix them very well.Serve immediately.
