Chutneys are very common in Indian meals.They are spicy,tangy and give a nice taste with Parathas and Dosa .We have lots of varieties of chutneys made from lots of ingredients like coriander,mint,tomato,peanuts,coconut,flax seed,sesame seeds,etc.
Tomato chutney is spicy and tangy chutney made from fresh ripen tomatoes.I added roasted peanuts ,coarsely ground, into tomato chutney.My mom make this chutney often and its great side dish with all curries in her lunch.
Why Tomato Chutney Maharashtrian?
In Maharashtra, using roasted peanuts is very common.Ground roasted peanuts are used in making curries thick, for dry vegetables,to add in breakfast dishes like Pohe,Upma and many more.Peanut Chutney or Danyachi Chutney is also a good dry chutney made from roasted peanuts.
Tomato chutney Maharashtrian is made thicker by using ground roasted peanuts and it gives nice nutty flavor and texture to this chutney.
This is no onion no garlic chutney.I have this chutney with Parathas,Idli,Dosa or it can be a spread on bread.
