Kobichi Bhaji or Cabbage Vegetable is very simple recipe and generally meant for lunch box vegetable in school days. One of the simple vegetable to cook and tasty at the same time. When I started to learn cooking, I was making lot of mistakes in Kobichi Bhaji like it used to get burn, cabbage is very old, salt is more in Bhaji and many more. But now , as I am practicing for long time, it is easy and fast sabji recipe.
Kobichi Bhaji can be made in many ways like some add soaked chana dal (gram dal) in Kobichi Bhaji or some don’t add anything. I am making this version with roasted peanut powder means danyacha kut in Marathi.
1 medium cabbage
2 tbsp. roasted peanut powder
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
2 green chilies
1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
1/4 tsp. asafetida
7-8 curry leaves
1 tbsp. chopped coriander leaves
2 tbsp. fresh grated coconut
Salt to taste
1. Wash and cut the cabbage. Heat oil in saucepan and add mustard seeds. Let it crackle. Add curry
leaves, green chilies, turmeric powder and asafetida.
2.Cover saucepan with lid and steam cook for 2-3 minutes. Don’t overcook the cabbage.
3.Add peanut powder and salt on sabji and let it cool for more 5 minutes on slow flame.
4. Garnish with coriander leaves and fresh grated coconut and serve hot with roti.
