Dink Ladoo

Dinka Ladoo or Dry Fruits Ladoo is very traditional winter Ladoo recipe.As soon as winter steps in our country, every mom will start shopping for dry fruits and making ‘dink ladoo’.

Dink Ladoo is very healthy recipe as it has lots of ghee, dry fruits and edible gum which is very good for giving strength and generating heat in body during winter season.That’s why it is made in winters and is given after pregnancy to nursing mothers. These Ladoos are made in all parts of North India, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

Instead of eating cashew,almond,walnuts,dry dates, its really good idea to have mixture in one ladoo and having big healthy dose each morning with your breakfast.This is very traditional recipe of ladoos but you may find many variations from region to region.They are called as Gond ke Laduu in Hindi,Dink che Ladoo in Marathi, Gundar Ladoo in Gujarati and Antinaunde in South India.

In pune, you will find Dink Ladoo in all Sweet shop like Chitale. They are in good quality.But we prefer to make these Ladoos in homemade ghee, with proper measurement.We also roast all dry fruits to keet its aroma intact.By making Ladoos at home, we are sure of its quality and definitely it is always cost effective solution.

I am making these Ladoos with my Mom and Aunty’s recipe.The specialty of my Aunty’s recipe is she adds roasted Urad Dal powder, which gives very nice aroma to these Ladoos and benefits of Urad Dal in winter season.Urad Dal is very well known for generating heat in our body , which is very good in winter days.

Gond or dink,edible gum is the main ingredient in this recipe. It is a natural edible gum which is white or little brown in color. It provides heat to the body in cold winter season. Buy this edible gum from good or well-known shops.The packet should be sealed and the pieces should be dry.

I have made Dink Ladoos in large amount for my family , but here giving 1 cup measurement for Dink Ladoo-Dry Fruits Ladoo.

Dink Ladoo | Dry Fruits Ladoo

Dink Ladoo or Dry fruits Ladoo , a very healthy recipe for all ages.It is made during winter when our body needs more energy and contains edible gum, Dink.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry dates/kharik (roughly chopped and powdered)
  • 1 cup grated dry coconut
  • 1 cup Cashew
  • 1 cup Almonds 
  • 1 cup Urad Dal(optional) / 1 cup wheat flour
  • 2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp edible gum/dink
  • 1 cup ghee/butter + 1/2 cup ghee/butter

Instructions

  • 1.Dry roast urad dal in pan till it becomes slightly brown and release nice aroma. Take it on plate and cool it off. Make fine powder in grinder. Using fine Sieve, strain this powder for more fineness, so any lumps remain will not come in Ladoos.
  • 2.Roast dry coconut in pan till it turns slightly brownish. Then take it in clean dish.
  • 3.Dry roast Almonds and cashews just for 2-3 minutes on low flame , or in microwave for 2-3 minutes.(Do not make it burn.).After cooling off, powder them in mixer.
  • 4.Heat 1 cup ghee and add edible gum or dink for frying. They fry like tiny white balloons. Take out dink in plate.
  • 5.Now add 1/2 cup of ghee to the remaining ghee and add urad dal powder. Roast Urad dal powder till it become golden color and release nice aroma.
  • 6.Add Cashew and Almond powder to tis mixture in pan. Mix it well. Turn off the flame.
  • 7.Crush the edible gums or dink  by hand only. Don't crush them in mixer, as then it will become oily and very sticky. Add crushed dink to above mixture in pan. Mix it well.
  • 8.If your pan is small enough to hold all this mixture transfer it too big kadhai or pan, because we don't need gas flame now.
  • 9.Add kharik/dry dates powder, kharik powder and sugar. Mix this mixture very well, so everything must be spread evenly and make the Dink Ladoos when the mixture is hot enough to handle.
  • 10.If you want to use jaggery, take 1 cup water and 2 cups Jaggery and boil this mixture.It will start melting jaggery and become syrup.Check if the syrup is done, take some water on plate and put a drop of syrup into it.If that drop become tough like crystal, them syrup is done.Turn off the gas.Add all ingredients in this mixture and make ladoos.
