Dudhi Bhoplyachi Bhaji or Lauki ki Sabji is a simple vegetable. Bottle gourd is a very healthy vegetable with lots of benefits.Dudhi-Bhopala/Lauki or Bottlegourd is found in almost all households in India.

This vegetable has gained a lot of popularity these days because of it’s huge positive impact on blood pressure and heart diseases. It is also considered as one of the best weight loss foods since it has 96% water and provides just 12 calories per 100 gms of serving.For Diabetes, it makes miracles when added into diet or morning juices.

In my childhood, I was not a fan of dudhi bhopla bhaji.Even many people don’t like Dudhi Bhopla or Bottle gourd.I consider it as Lunchbox vegetable.I prefer eating Dudhi Bhopla Halwa instead.

After marriage, I have to cook vegetables and each time when I do grocery, I have ignored it or sometimes just wasted.But finally, I learned how to cook and how it can be delicious in its own way. I know Dudhi Bhoplyachi Bhaji is not a very tempting vegetable, but it has many health benefits.

Why is Bottle gourd considered so beneficial?

4.High in sodium, potassium, and minerals.
5.Diabetic patients prefer juice of this vegetable
6.Bottle gourd helps to treat urinary tract infection




Many times, my kids don’t prefer eating this vegetable and I grate it and put it into Jowar Dhapate or Thalipeeth, so they don’t even know what they are eating.(After grating, squeeze all the water from bottle gourd and mix it with Bhajani flour)There are lots of ways to make this vegetable, you can pressure cook for fast cooking.Or you can use slow cooking method for more juice extracting from bottle gourd.I make it dry vegetable as below when I want it for lunch box.Sometimes, I make it curry also to eat with steam Rice. I prefer using ground roasted peanuts to add in Dudhi Bhoplyachi Curry to make it thicker.

Tip: A small piece of bottle gourd should be tasted before extracting its juice or using in kitchen purpose to ensure it’s not bitter. If it is bitter, it should not be consumed at all.

Dudhi Bhoplyachi Bhaji | Bottle gourd Vegetable

Dudhi Bhoplyachi Bhaji or Lauki ki Sabji is very simple vegetable.Bottlegourd vegetable is very healthy vegetable with lots of benefits.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium sized bottle gourd
  •  - 4 green chilies
  •  - 1 tsp fresh grated ginger
  •  - 1/4 cup soaked chana dal
  •  - 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  •  - 1 tsp mustard seeds
  •  - 1 tsp cumin seeds
  •  - 2 tbsp oil
  •  - Coriander leaves

Instructions

  • 1.Peel outer green skin of gourd and cut into vertical halves.Remove seed part.Cut into small squares.
  • 2.Heat oil and add mustard seeds.When they splutter add curry leaves,asafoetida,green chillies and cumin seeds.
  • 3.Add turmeric powder and grated ginger.
  • 4.Add pre-soaked chana dal into oil and fry the dal for few minutes till it turns little golden brown.
  • 5.Add gourd/bhopla into pan and cover the pan for 10 minutes till gourd has become soft.
  • 6.Add salt as per taste and garnish with coriander.
  • Serve with hot roti and pickle.
